Every kid, it seems, dreams of flying a plane or riding in one. But as we age, this dream either develops into wanting to travel to other places beyond the seas or disappears as general fear for flying sets in. Known as aerophobia or aviatophobia, the fear of riding in a plane becomes more intense as we get older because we have an idea of how it would feel when you are way up there and falling down on the ground. News of airplane crashes aggravate this fear because we could not help but picture ourselves in that situation. To overcome this fear, therapists suggests facing it head on. The first step is to assure yourself of the safety of the aircraft. Take flight simulation courses to help you release that fear. Unless you figured in an actual near-death plane crash, the fear can be easily treated because it is only based on our perception. Once treated, flying soon become a thing of the past and become a liberating experience for you.
